Over 6000 grasses were supplied to a newly built Ikea store at Springwood (15 minutes south of Brisbane). The grass component of this project ran over two months and was planted by Scape Shapes. The building was designed to be environmentally friendly with the latest energy saving technology, including an alternative to air conditioning. Chilled beams were used, a system that utilises cold water circulated through a series of pipes and beams. This system maintains a constant temperature throughout the entire building. The water is stored in large tanks and used to run the irrigation system - this is truly an energy smart building incorporating a water wise landscape.
